Naukri Profile Tips: Resume Headline, Summary and Key Skills
By the MyResumeExpert Team · Updated October 3, 2026 · 3 min read
On Indian job portals such as Naukri, recruiters usually search the candidate database before they ever open a resume file. What they see first, and what their searches match, is your profile: the resume headline, key skills, profile summary and employment details.
A strong profile makes you findable; a strong resume gets you shortlisted once you are found. This guide covers both. (MyResumeExpert is not affiliated with Naukri; field names may change over time.)
Write a resume headline recruiters click
The resume headline is a single line shown next to your name in search results. Treat it like an advert: role, experience, specialism and one standout result or skill.
WeakLooking for a good opportunity in IT.
StrongJava Backend Developer | 4 Yrs | Spring Boot, Microservices, AWS | Fintech payments at scale
Role, years and searchable skills in one line.
WeakFresher B.Com graduate.
StrongB.Com Graduate 2026 | Tally Prime, GST, Advanced Excel | Accounts and finance roles
Even freshers can name skills and target roles.
WeakExperienced sales professional.
StrongB2B SaaS Sales Manager | 8 Yrs | ₹12 Cr annual quota | Enterprise accounts, BFSI
Scale and domain help the right recruiters find you.
Choose key skills that match searches
- List the exact skill names recruiters type: "Spring Boot", "React.js", "Tally Prime", "Talent Acquisition".
- Cover your core stack first, then supporting tools.
- Remove skills you have not used recently or cannot discuss in an interview.
- Match the skills to the roles you want next, not every role you have had.

Write a profile summary that sells
Keep it to three or four sentences: who you are, your domain, your strongest results and what you want next.

Fill in the details recruiters filter on
Recruiters commonly filter by experience, current location, preferred locations, notice period and salary. Keep these accurate and up to date: an outdated notice period or location can remove you from searches you should appear in. See our guide on CTC and notice period for how to handle salary details.
Tip: Updating your profile regularly, even with small improvements, is widely believed to help it appear as more recent in recruiter searches.
Upload a resume that matches your profile
- Use the same job titles, dates and skills as your profile so nothing looks inconsistent.
- Upload a text-based PDF or Word file, not a scan.
- Keep it to one or two pages with a clean, ATS-friendly layout.
- Name the file clearly, for example "Priya-Sharma-Data-Analyst-Resume.pdf".
Check the file with our free ATS resume checker before uploading, and start from an ATS-friendly template.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a good resume headline for Naukri?
- A single line with your role, years of experience, two or three key skills and your domain, for example "Java Backend Developer | 4 Yrs | Spring Boot, Microservices, AWS".
- What should a fresher write in the resume headline?
- Your degree and year, your strongest skills and the roles you are targeting, for example "B.Tech CSE 2026 | Java, React, SQL | Software developer roles".
